If you don't have to sell your house now, you probably shouldn't. Historically, the real estate market has gone up over time, but has had a number of "pull backs" during which real property temporarily declined in value along the way. In most of the country, we're currently experiencing such a decline. If history repeats as it has in prior cycles, this slump will end and values will climb to new highs again. Therefore, if you don't have a compelling reason to sell, you just might want to "sit tight" until the next upswing is under way.
